There three ways to arrange the view of your files. The (most common) Folder view (similar to the Windows explorer), the chronologic Calendar view (images are ordered according to their date taken) and the self-defined Albums view (photos are shown that you added to an album before).

At first glance the folder view is just alike the explorer but there is main (and useful) difference: You are now able to define the folders of which the thumbnails are generated. Just mark the checkbox in front of a folder and the thumbnails of the selected files will be shown on the right side.

The Calendar view arranges your file chronologically according to the creation date (year, month, day). If you are looking for a certain image, but don’t remember the folder, the date on which it was taken might help when searching for that photo.

The drag & drop virtual albums (favorites) organize your media files in folders without actually moving them – the same files can be included in multiple folders without creating multiple copies of the files. You can manipulate the files in virtual albums just like any other group of files: Add tags and star ratings, perform batch cut and crop operations, create slide shows and web albums and so on. The tab can be found below Browse next to the Folders tab.

If you first use Ashampoo Photo Commander 10, there are not any albums there yet. If you want to add a new album just drop a picture at the “Drop files here to ADD” area (see red arrow below). If you want to add a picture to an already existing album, just drop it a the album itself. To remove a picture or an album, select the album with a click first and then choose the file (the picture or the album itself, pictures will appear at the preview) and drop it at the “Drop files here to REMOVE” area. To rename an album give it a double click and the caption can be changed.
