Changing the style of the browser
The view style of the browser can be changed very quickly. The View-menu contains an option to change it and a right-click on the browser itself opens a similar dialogue. Below you can see the different types of views you can choose from according to your needs. Each is descripted in more detail below. Furthermore you also have the option to save a view style for a folder so that each time you open the folder, photo commander view is displayed according to your setting and sort order.
The Thumbnail Style (default)
The Browser Mode consists of three important parts. On the top left area you can see the Folder View. It tells you what directory you are browsing, and what directories and/or disks are available on your system. On the bottom left area you can see the Preview Window. It is exactly the same as when starting the in the Viewing Mode. The right half area is called the Content View. It does list all supported media files available in the directory by creating small previews of your image and video files.
The Summary Style
This style shows only one image/preview per row, but displays additional information about the file, like for JPG files different EXIF info (Make, Date, Model), for video files the used video and audio codec, its length and bit rate. Due to its additional information, it is easier to find a specific file among similar files (eg: images) with this style set.
The Report Style Of course the layout of the Browser can be adjusted. In the screenshot below the Content View has been configured to use the Report Style. The Report Style can be optimal for directories that only contain audio files, as it is not practical to create preview images out of audio files. Or you might prefer the Report View cause of its speed and low memory foot print, as no Preview Images have to be generated.
The Filmstrip Style The new filmstrip browser mode shows thumbnails as a “rolling filmstrip” (see red box) below a preview window. Use the slider to navigate. Your files and folders can be found on the right.
The Audio Folder View In this view all data that are relevant for music files. This way you can clearly display your music collection without to much unnecessary information.
